Spartanburg School District One is excited to launch the first cohort of a district-funded advanced degree program for Spartanburg One teachers. In partnership with the University of South Carolina Upstate, Spartanburg One will offer twenty-five teachers the opportunity to earn a Master of Education in Applied Learning and Instruction at the district’s expense. This two-year degree can be earned entirely online and offers concentrations to include early childhood, elementary, literacy (K-12), or TESOL (K-12).
The district program requirements include an essay application and a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. All ten Spartanburg One schools will be represented in the first cohort and include a wide range of content and teaching experience. The program will be used as a valuable incentive to support the district’s educator recruitment, retention, and professional development strategies with the goal of expanding opportunities for teacher growth.
