CHS Theatre Department To Present Fall Comedy Classics, The Bald Soprano & The Actor’s Nightmare
The Chapman High School Theatre Department will present two nights of entertaining comedy on October 12 and 13 at 7:00 PM.
The one-act plays, The Bald Soprano and
The Actor’s Nightmare will have you laughing so hard you cry! Both evening performances will take place at Chapman High School in the auditorium.

French playwright Eugène Ionesco wrote The Bald Soprano, an absurdist play about a hilarious conversation of six people, in 1950. Ionesco’s play is timeless, and it has remained one of France’s most famous works of theatre. The Bald Soprano is regarded as an iconic piece of absurdist theatre and centers on the themes of alienation, the unreliability yet necessity of language, and parody of the bourgeoisie and conformism.

The Actor’s Nightmare is a comic piece that features an accountant named George Spelvin, who is mistaken for an actor’s understudy. Hilarious antics ensue when George finds himself stumbling through productions of Private Lives, Hamlet, Endgame, and Sir Thomas More. He is the reluctant and bumbling star of all productions; yet, he doesn’t remember rehearsing the shows and can’t remember one line to save his life.

Tickets at the door are $10 for general admission. Spartanburg One employees are admitted free. For more information, please call Dr. Carrie Roberts at (864) 838-8082. Don’t miss this fun, unique night of comedy and levity!
