Principal's Message
Mr. Hodge

Welcome to Inman Elementary School, where our mission is to provide every child with a quality student-centered education. IES has a rich history of academic success. We have received the South Carolina Literacy Spot Award, the South Carolina Exemplary Reading Award, and were named a South Carolina Palmetto Finest Finalist in 2014. Inman Elementary has a unique grade structure of K4 - 3rd grade, allowing the faculty and staff to focus on needs specific to early childhood students.   All teachers are highly qualified and have been trained to meet the needs of the early learner.  IES has approximately 530 students and a teacher/student ratio of 17:1. The vast majority of teachers have been trained in Reading Recovery and practice balanced literacy on a daily basis. Our goal is to ensure that every student is reading on or above grade level before they leave our campus.

Several exciting events happened at IES during the 2017-2018 school year.  In grades 2 and 3 we were able to offer a new course called Media Arts focusing on technology skills, such as Google Apps and coding.  Students have had several opportunities to participate in Arts Activities as well.  All students performed at the Dr. Seuss Literacy Night in March and all students performed once with the music program either at Christmas or in the spring.  The addition of a second district dance teacher allowed our second and third grade to audition and be selected for the dance team which lasted approximately 14 weeks culminating with a performance for parents and then for the school. Our students participated in a service project to create Christmas Cards for Veterans and we made 2661 cards.  Our school participated in raising money for Relay for Life and we raised over $5000.   We continue to have wonderful support from our PTO and community partners and faith-based community.  Our community partners are critical to our success with PTO projects.  These include: Circle K, Backpacks for Hope, Good News Club, Rotary Readers, Kiwanis TERRIFIC Kids, and Lions Club.

We are excited for all of the great things that the 2018-2019 school year will bring!  Please contact the school at 864-472-8403 if we can help you.

 Thank you,

 John Hodge
